How Come?

I think Webtreats deserves to be mentioned because they have put out a number of well selling Photoshop layer styles, effects, and other useful files for Photoshop users. It’s a lot hard than you think to create top selling “styles” and application resources, but Webtreats seems to have a knack for creating ones that turn out to be extremely popular. As from these resources, Webtreats has also create a few icon sets also.

25 Pixel Perfect Reto Posters by Eric Tan

I am a huge fan of when people remake modern day movie posters with a retro look and feel to them. Eric Tan has an uncanny ability to do just that, but with his own unique vector style to them. It is that style that no doubt got him noticed by Disney, for which he has done quite a bit of work with. Aside from his Disney work, he also has a variety of other movie posters he has created. Unfortunately I don’t know where you can buy any of his work, other wise I would link you to it. I do know that he was at ComicCon last year selling and signing posters. Maybe he will make it to DragonCon next year?!?

If you want to check out more of Eric works, you can visit his blog here.

Under the Radar – BrainBot Robot with Brain

WOW, I can not believe this GraphicRiver author hasn’t had more total sales. We are lucky to have such a talented illustrator and designer to be sending in files to GraphicRiver. I actually showcased this illustrator on a post I did on Outlaw Design Blog a year or two ago. He is an amazing character illustrator and equally talented vector artists.

Discussion: Where do you get your ideas for files?

Being that GraphicRiver covers such a wide variety of file types I find it interesting to know how one comes up with ideas for files. Some files are obviously left over work or something the author did because they were bored or wanted to practice their skills. But for files created specifically for GraphicRiver, where did the ideas for them come from?

How Come?

I decided to pick hertzz for this weeks featured author for a few reasons. For starters, he obviously has some very sharp files for sale. Many of his files make their way to the top 10 the month they are released. The other reason I decided to choose hertzz is because he does an excellent job at showcasing his files in his main file image and also write a pretty decent description oh each file. As many of you know, these are two things that I constantly preach about and hertzz has done a nice job at listening to me!

20 of the Geekiest Halloween Costumes Ever

As you may have noticed, I am super pumped for Halloween. While really cool costumes like those in my post titled “Your Halloween Costume Sucks” are really cool, I am always impressed when people come up with more creative costumes. Im not sure you would consider some of the costumes on this list “creative” but they are original ideas none the less. Leave it to the gees to come up with some of the most creative costumes.

Under the Radar: Sketch Creative Business Card

Granted I probably haven’t browsed the business card category of GraphicRiver as much as I should, I would like to think I would have noticed a business card template as cool as the “Sketch Creative” by author dvkro. If his work or name sounds familiar, that is because he was a featured author on the GraphicRiver marketplace a while back. After seeing all the files he has for sale, I can see why he was picked.

Screenr: Create video tutorials in minutes!

While there may not be any statistics to back up the fact that marketplace files with video tutorials sell more, I say that they at least have a higher perceived value. By having a file that has a higher perceived value, you create the impression that your files are worth more than similar files without video tutorials. The result of this perceived value will hopefully be more sales. In this post, I share with you a tool that makes it so easy to create screencasts that you have no excuse for not making one!

Discussion: Any job offers from your marketplace profile?

In numerous posts in the past I have preached about having a good marketplace profile and informative text on your about page. One reason I mention you should pay attention to this area of your profile is because it could land you some nice job offers. After all, your market place profile is kind of like a portfolio site that probably gets way more traffic than your actual portfolio site!

So my question for today is: Have you received any job offers through your marketplace profile?
