Let me start off this post by saying that I am in no way a comic book artist, nor do I claim to know what makes up a great comic book cover. What I am is a avid fan of all things comic book related. The selection below is nothing more than a selection of comic book covers I have always found to be quite impressive. I apologize for the plethora of Wolverine covers, but he has always been one of my favorites.
Also, I apologize for the low quality of some of these images. It was surprisingly hard to find high quality images of a number of these comics. That said, despite low quality scans, I think many of them can still be very appreciated.
I would love to hear from other comic book lovers about what comic book covers they have always found impressive. So if you have a particular favorite, share a link to the picture in the comments section below!

Like many of you out there I’m sure, I’m a big movie buff. As a designer, I can’t help but appreciate creative movie posters and well designed DVD cases. Below are some of my favorite movie posters from 2009. Some of the posters on this list are more creative than others, but all of them are great designs regardless of creativity. Sometimes it is not about how creative the design is, but how well it conveys the feeling of the movie. That is something all the posters on this list do well.
What is your favorite movie poster from 2009?

Recently I did a post over at PSD tuts that showcased 50 digital painting tutorials. That post provided me the opportunity to explore a variety of digital artists, portfolio, and websites. These sites and portfolios made me remember how impressive digital artists can be. So today I spent several hours just browsing my favorite digital art site, CG Society. If you have never browsed this site before, I highly suggest you do.
The site showcases just about every kind of digital art you can think of. From 3D rendering to pure digital painting, this site has it all. While there is sooooo many amazing artists on there, I picked 42 of my favorite works today to share with you. I hope you like these picks and that they inspire you as much as they have for me.

There are no shortage of inspirational post out on the internet these days. I publish plenty of them myself, both here and on Outlaw Design Blog. Rather than share another generic inspirational post on a given topic, I want to share with you some of the odd places that I draw inspiration from. Some of these I’m sure other designers draw inspiration from, but I think a number of them might be places that you have never thought of to look at for inspiration.

Since the recent Alice in Wonderland fan art post was so popular, I thought I would follow up with one that might be even more popular. Seeing as how Star Wars has had a huge cult following since its creation, it is only natural that there would be a ton of great fan art and Star Wars inspired art out there. This collection is all from Deviant Art and is completely digitally painted. What do you think?
