How Come?

The main reason I decided to feature GraphicRiver author Station8 was because of the high quality and type of files they contribute. Station* has a plethora of isolated objects that are perfect for grunge and hand drawn style designs. They have everything from duct tape to construction paper and then some. If you are looking to create a real organic design, web or print, check out some ofthe files in Station8’s portfolio.

Under the Radar – Assorted Stylized Happy Cartoon Clouds

It has been a while since I did an Under the Radar post. So, I decided to browse way back in the archives to find some gems that might have been overlooked. During my search, I found this really cool file of “assorted stylized happy cartoon clouds.” With as popular as this cartoon and hand drawn style is, I am super surprised that this file has only sold a handful of times. Only nine times since February 2009. That is a shame.

This author has a wide style skill set. If this cartoon set doesn’t really do it for you, I still suggest you check out the authors profile. Every one of the authors files is completely different in style and all of them are pretty amazing.

File: Assorted Stylized Happy Cartoon Clouds
Author: Mashton
Overview:
An assortment of cloud characters with various happy facial expressions. Done with pastel colours these clouds would perfectly suit a cartoon type website, or childrens illustration, or fit well into a background. There is also a rainbow which can be moved around and the colours changed easily.

Each cloud is made from Vector Mask Layers, so there is no limit to how large you can scale these clouds. You can use them for web or print. Each element of each cloud is on a separate layer, so you can easily change colours and mix and match the facial expression of each cloud.

Enjoy!

Featured File – Detailed Opened Hard Drive Icon Set

If you are a long time reader to the blog, you know I have a thing for icons. While I really love pretty little web icons, I am always fascinated at the detail put into application and dock icons. This open hard drive icon set is no exception. I wanted to feature this file because there are little to no other icons of this detail on the marketplace. I am hoping this feature inspires author, ConstantinPotorac, and others to create more detailed icon sets.

Design Ideas: A List of Lists

I know the web is littler with roundup posts these days. This post isn’t meant to be a cheap version of one. This post is aimed at hopefully inspiring the GraphicRiver authors. It seems to me that sets of web elements seem to do really well on the marketplaces. Being that I mostly design blogs, I think having a variety of list sets like the ones in the examples below would be awesome to have on hand. If I could find a set that had 10 to 15 lightly styled lists in a variety of layouts, I would be all about buying it.

Getting Your File Approved, Part One

This week, we’re proud to feature a two part series written by Ben Gibbin, known as our very own bgm, one of GraphicRiver’s hard working reviewers. Ben and the rest of the team have handled thousands of files between them, and as such, they know better than anyone what common mistakes to avoid and tips to follow to make the submission (and approval!) process as easy as possible. Ben shares his technical tips and basics with us today. Don’t forget to watch next week for Part Two!

Take it away, Ben!

As a reviewer on GraphicRiver, I’ve grown to know the Review Guidelines very well and reviewed more files than grains of sand on the beach. I’ve reviewed some truly awesome files and then, some that aren’t so good.

In the case of the latter, the files usually haven’t followed the guidelines. It’s absolutely imperative you follow them to the tee. And so, with that in mind we’ve decided to publish a helpful two-parter series on how to increase the likelihood of having your file approved to our wonderful marketplace. (more…)

How Come?

The author known as Segen is no stranger to the Envato marketplaces. Many of his web design files are extremely popular over on the ThemeForest marketplace. If you don’t believe me, just check out his sales stats. While has added a few files on GraphicRiver in the past, I wanted to showcase him today because of all the cool PowerPoint templates he has been adding to the site. There are no shortage of crappy PowerPoint templates floating around the web these days. Lucky for us, segen has created some truly stylish designs that are sure to spice up any presentation.
