I hadn’t planned on writing an Under the Radar post today, but then I came across this file titled Transportation by author Malchev. Perhaps it isn’t technically under the radar just yet, as it was only submitted a few days ago. But, if you ask me, its a crime that no one has bought this file yet. I don’t have a use for it, but I tempted to buy it just because its awesome.

Per the request of some readers, I decided to feature a texture file for this weeks featured file. While this weeks files is really cool, I almost didn’t feature it. Why? Well, at first glance I was concerned with the various designs that were included on some of the sample images would turn some buyers off. However, after reading the file description, I found that every single element you see is on its own layer style. this means you can mix and match the elements to create a background texture that is customized to your needs.
I think that is awesome.

I recently started reading Gary Vaynerchucks new book, Crush It. First let me say that the book is nothing short of amazing. It is a nice mix of Garys history, business advice, and inspiration. As I have been reading the book, I have been thinking about how I can use the principles in it for my own design business and other ventures. Recently, I have been pondering how these same principles could be used for authors in the marketplace.

Plain and simple, this author has some of the most detailed patterns I have seen in a long time. On top of that, they have found a nice little design niche that they are pretty good at. It just goes to show you, if you are passionate about what you are working on the end result will most likely be amazing.

This file, Frozen Pizza Layer Styles, deserves to be featured for a number of reasons. Aside from being a great collection of some very well put together layer styles, the author has done a great job of marketing her file. The main file image is well made and informative, which is always important. She also did a great job at writing a very informative description of her file. It would have been really easy to just write a sentence or two describing these files, but the author went into great detail and created a nice description. This is an all around great file and well executed.

I think Webtreats deserves to be mentioned because they have put out a number of well selling Photoshop layer styles, effects, and other useful files for Photoshop users. It’s a lot hard than you think to create top selling “styles” and application resources, but Webtreats seems to have a knack for creating ones that turn out to be extremely popular. As from these resources, Webtreats has also create a few icon sets also.
