How Do You Use GraphicRiver?

Today I would like to start a conversation that will hopefully make GraphicRiver a better marketplace, as well as shed some light on what people are looking for on GraphicRiver.

We all use GraphicRiver in a different way. Some of us are here just to make some extra passive income with some of our old designs. Others are here simply to shop and save some time on their design work. Of course, there are also those who do a bit of both. I myself sell and buy on the marketplace. Actually, I pretty much just sell on the marketplace so I can buy from the marketplace!

Featured File – Stunning Retro Business Cards

I was never really a fan of the style of retro artwork. But, after having discovered James White for this post I did on the Top Digital Artists in the USA & Canada, I began to have a new appreciation for it. This Stunning Retro Business Card design is true to its name and is a prime example of what a good business card in this style should look like. While the style might not be for everyone, you can’t argue that it is well made and a great design.

25 Bizarre and Amazing Works By Tara McPherson

Last weekend I went to a big comic/sci fi convention in Atlanta called Dragon Con. This convention has an entire are dedicated to pop and comic artists. I usually end up spending most of my money in this area of the convention. I am sucker for cool art. This year I was exposed to a new artist who I was really taken by, her name is Tara McPherson. Her style is surreal and dream like to say the least. It is so unique, that I wanted to share it with you. What do you think?

Ideas to Increase Your Sales

I think it is safe to assume that many of you selling files on GraphicRiver are doing so to make some extra cash. Some of you might even be doing it to replace your income. With some authors making over a quarter of a million dollars, who wouldn’t want to try!? While I am far from the million dollar mark, I thought I might share some ideas that could possibly help you increase your sales overtime. If you are looking to make some serious passive income from the marketplaces, these ideas should help you do just that.

Featured File – DVD/CD Mockup Generator

While this action set by GraphicRiver author draftbeer80 is really great, I choose it for a number of reasons other than how good the actual action is. As you may know, the other day I wrote a post on how to write a good file description. I kept that post in mind while I looked for today’s featured file because I wanted to showcase a file that was not only worthy of showcasing, but also had a file description that was worthy.

How to Write a Good File Description

Designers aren’t sales people. If they were, we probably wouldn’t have the famous “feast or famine” quote associated to how we make money. If a designer worked on their sales technique as much as they work on improving their design skills, one could probably double their own income. If that is the case, why do we write sub par sales letters, put off calling potential clients, and do a poor job with our website copy?

New Redesign Sneak Peek

For those of you who haven’t yet checked it out in the newsletter or forums, we’ve leaked a couple of screenshots of the redesigned forums – check out the screenshots below!

As you all know, the Envato marketplaces are going through an extensive redesign which we’ll be launching by the end of this month.

Besides giving the sites a bit of a facelift, we’ve done our best to take on board as much of your feedback as possible, and added many new features in order to make the marketplaces even better! :-)

I wanted to give everyone a ‘sneak peek’ of what you can expect, so here’s a couple of screenshots based on our new and improved Forums.

We hope you like them, and we wanted to say a special ‘thank you’ to everyone who’s supported us and given us great feedback over the years!

We’re all working hard to add the finishing touches, but you can expect the grand unveiling by the end of the month. Stay tuned!

Spice Up Your Profile

Want to catch a buyer’s eye? GraphicRiver user, HQM, is here to show you show you how you could easily spice up your Envato Marketplace profile with eye-catching graphics and ways to update your buyers. Take it away, HQM!

I’ll use a few graphics I’ve made myself for my profile and for this tutorial. The main thing is to keep the profile as clean and readable as possible, at all times. If we have to much or to little information we can actually lose a future client. This profile as your very own personal portfolio to show of what you do and what you have done. I know not all great artists out there have their own website or portfolio so this is actually a great place to show the world what you are able to create.

Talking Shop – Where do you get your ideas? (video)

I regularly browse the GraphicRiver marketplace and am constantly amazed at all the creative files that are for sale. That goes for all of the Envato Marketplaces really. There are just some amazing files for sale on these sites. It makes me wonder, how do you get these ideas? What inspires you to create such files?

I would love to know what your process is for creating file to sell on the marketplaces. Do you create file strictly to sell online? Or do you only post old and rejected client designs?

How many of you do research in t he marketplace before you create files to try and spot top selling trends and styles?
